GPRS Locates Underground Utilities at Hotel - Nashville, TN Ground Penetrating Radar Systems’ Nashville, TN office was recently contracted by a local plumbing company to consult on the location of underground utilities at an upscale hotel, near the airport and prime retail in the Opry Mills area. Upgrades were being made to the kitchen facilities, resulting in the addition of a new grease trap system. Due to the required installation location, it was essential that utilities in the excavation area be located and protected from damage. GPRS was able to respond same day to the site and, using both GPR and Radio Detection technology, scan the area for both known and unknown utilities. It was known that at least one water line passed through the area, but GPRS was able to locate the domestic and fire water lines individually, marking their depth; as well was confirm that no gas or electric utilities would be encountered. Upon scanning, all findings and depths were marked directly on the surface using high visibility marking paint. With the same day presentation of a job summary, excavation could begin the next day with no delays in work. Additionally, thanks to the reliability of the technology and scanning process, a follow-up report was provided to both the environmental company and manufacturing facility so accurate records could be kept and existing drawings could be corrected and updated. ![]() Other services we offer are: Post-Tension Cable Location, Conduit Mapping, Rebar Mapping, Void Location and more.
