Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, LLC. (GPRS) was called to scan an area of an existing slab in Vail. The general contractor wanted to know the location of all of the radiant heating tubes to ensure that the tubes were not struck droning the cutting and coring of the slab. Using ground penetrating radar, GPRS found all of the tubing in the designated area and can be seen in the picture below. With the information presented, the general contractor was able to continue with the construction process and avoided having to replace the existing radiant heating system.

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, of Denver, CO was contacted by a contractor to locate reinforcement within a concrete slab. The client was looking to determine how much weight the concrete slab could hold for the installation of heavy equipment on the unknown concrete slab. The customer was also then looking to core drill holes through the concrete slab and did not wish to strike any reinforcement in the process. For a project like this, GPRS is able to determine several key factors of the concrete slab such as: reinforcement spacing, reinforcement depth, slab depth, and approximate reinforcement size in the concrete. GPRS arrived on site without delay using digital concrete imaging utilizing ground penetrating radar to map out the contents of the slab to determine how to best proceed with this part of their project.
