GPR Scanning After DigAlert Markout – San Diego, CAGPRS of Southern California was called out to provide a utility location survey in a busy parking lot near downtown San Diego. The general contractor of the project set up DigAlert, and had them mark out utilities (based on plans) one-day prior. The main reason that the general contractor decided to hire a third-party utility locating services was to add depths to all lines marked, as well as to act as a verification of the DigAlert mark-out to avoid any potential unforeseen abandoned or mismarked lines. GPRS was able to find multiple additional utilities onsite, including irrigation, as well as electrical and communication lines that were not shown on the map DigAlert used to mark their utilities. Depths were also added to each utility previously located with 811 one call. The contractor that hired GPRS was planning to erect a new housing project, and it was critical to have depths and lines verified for their planning purposes. Private utility locating services with ground penetrating radar, coupled with Digalert or an 811 one call, as well as consulting existing utility drawings, insures that utilities are accurately found, along with depths, and can eliminate all unknown unseen anomalies on your project.
